LA
This week we continued working on strengthening our story writing skills. As a group, we came up with a list of "jail words". We are not allowed to use these words in our story writing because they are overused and lazy! We also worked on taking "skeleton" sentences and making them into more detailed, interesting ones by using our senses.
Our next spelling test will be on Monday, April 8th.
1. their
2. there
3. they're
4. echo
5. journey
6. unreliable
7. underestimate
8. interrupt
9. doubtful
10. expression
Math
This week in math, we continued working on our Disneyland project. I love seeing how creative students are when thinking of activities to do while there. For example, some students are taking flying lessons, while others are renting Lamborghini's! We will be finishing our project up next week. I am so excited to see everyone's two-page spreads which shows their learning.
Science
In Science, we are learning through completing activity tasks on electricity concepts. This week we focused on resistors, conductors, insulators, and types of circuits. Only one group was able to use a pickle as a battery and light up a 3V LED.
Social
In Social, we started researching the four main parties that are campaigning in Alberta's election. We reviewed the three types of government in Canada- local (municipal), provincial and national and the services they provide. Students will be looking at the four platforms of the Alberta Party, NDP, Alberta Liberals, and United Conservatives. We will hold a vote and determine who we think would best manage Alberta and make plans for Alberta's future.
Buddies
During buddies this week, we helped the grade one/twos write acrostic poems. The most common and simple form of an acrostic poem is where the first letters of each line spell out the word or phrase.
Upcoming:
April 16th- Field Trip to Spaceport (Volunteers needed)
April 17th- Quest Theatre Visits
April 19th- No School (Good Friday)
PAT Information is located on the Week of March 18-22nd
