LA
We are almost done our final project for Bridge to Terabithia! I am so proud of the work done so far by everyone! I can't wait for the students to share their hard work with you at conferences next week. We will have one more day in class (Monday) to work on our "matchbook" summaries and connection write-ups. If they are not done Monday, they will be homework and due on Thursday March 21.

Our next spelling test is on Monday March 18. Here are the spelling words:
1. anxious
2. consequence
3. famous
4. luminous
5. situation
6. inhale
7. standard
8. element
9. disease
10. demolish

Reminder: Some of us have not handed in our nonfiction descriptive writing piece. Please do so as soon as possible

Math
This week in math we have started our decimal and fractions unit. We began correctly naming decimals, e.g. 0.42 is 42 hundredths. We also converted decimals into fractions! We also began our next math project. We are planning a trip to Disneyland. Each student has a budget of $3000 for each member of their family. It is our job to plan for flights, ground transportation, hotel, food, park passes, and anything extra we think of!
Students can also use prodigy.com to work on their math skills

French
In French this week, we worked diligently to design, create and continue construction on our houses.  Students were asked to decorate and create the furniture for their houses at home and return it to school on Monday.  We will begin adding electrical components to our homes soon.  Students also created labels for their houses to demonstrate their understanding of the French vocabulary.  Students can continue to build vocabulary and pronunciation skills on www.duolingo.com

Science
In science, we began our electricity and magnetism centres.  Students are working in groups of three to complete challenges.  We had quite a few light bulbs going off on Thursday and some of us realized that we needed to review our vocabulary notes and/or prior learning on conductors and insulators.  Several groups created various circuits and added in a switch to turn the power on and off, a resistor to lessen the flow of electricity, or a buzzer to experiment with sound.  It was fun!

Spaceport Field Trip

We are looking for parent volunteers for our Spaceport Field Trip on April 16! Please contact Mrs. Pierce or Miss Drever if you are able to help us out.
