May 6 to 10

LA

We had a busy week in LA! We continued working on writing news articles. On Wednesday, the grade 6’s wrote their first Provincial Achievement Test. During this time, the grade 5’s participated in the school wide write. I can’t wait to read all of the stories!

Math

This week in math, we started a new unit on angles. We began by reviewing horizontal, vertical, parallel and perpendicular lines. We also learned about acute, right, and obtuse angels. On Thursday, we began learning how to measure angles using a protractor. We will be continuing working with protractors and angles next week. We will also be learning about geometry!

Science

This week in Science, we wrote our unit test on Electricity and Magnetism. Tests will be returned to students as soon as possible. We also began working on our Egg Drop Challenge. We built our parachutes and we will be testing them next week. Ask us about our designs!

Social

We continued learning about democracy in Ancient Athens this week. Specifically, we researched about the Council of 500, Assembly, city states, and the roles of women and men. Ask us what we think about Ancient Athens form of democracy.
